Overview
As a 501(c)(3) non profit organization. the Lions Foundation of West Linn is eligible to collect Oregon redeemable 10 cent deposit containers (bottles and cans) and turn them in for cash to the BottleDrop Program. The Lions Foundation of West Linn has joined the Oregon BottleDrop Program. The Lions Foundation provides the 501(c)(3) status for the West Linn Lions Club who will administer the Program and decide the use and distribution of funds collected. But as with other fundraisers, all fund received from the redeemable containers will be distributed to the community or other charitable organizations. |
Coordinators will then drop-off blue bags with stickers at a BottleDrop Redemption Center (Oregon City) or you can deliver them yourself. More locations will open up in the near future. Bag’s stickers are scanned at the base of the large deposit door. Once scanned, you must pull handle to open the door. Push the bag through, keep door open and insert other bags, one at a time. Make sure that the bags are securely tied by the yellow pull ribbon to ensure that containers do not fall out. Handlers will count the containers and credit our account. Blue bags are available from Club members.
Club members, family members, and friends can all contribute to the bottle drop program. We also make blue bags available to interested contributors and pickup containers for those people who find the drop-off locations or times inconvenient. See the contacts below

Process Details
A non-profit organization such as the Lions Foundation use special blue bags (rather than the standard green bags) to return redeemable containers. Blue bags are not limited to the 2 bags per day imposed on the standard green bags. We can turn in 10 blue bags a day. Each bag must have a pre-printed sticker tag affixed with the ID for the Lions Foundation of West Linn. These stickers are obtained and placed on the bags by the Program coordinators. Bags hold approximately 70 containers depending on the size of the containers. The bags should be filled completely full to offset the cost of the bag. Each full blue bag could generate $7 on average once turned into the main BottleDrop Redemption Center. Drop-off Location
The West Linn Lions Club is collecting plastics at their drop off location behind the West Linn Safeway on Wednesdays between the hours of 9:90 am to 12:30 noon. Club members will be at the drop-off location(s) during these times. Bottles and cans can also be donated to the Club at this location. |
