Eric Egland Memorial Overview: In partnership with the West Linn Lions Club, this scholarship remembers Eric GlenAlan Egland; a resident of West Linn for 27 years. Eric attended the University of Oregon and graduated from Portland State University with a degree in Business. He was a beloved husband of nearly 44 years, father of 4 West Linn High School graduates, and grandfather of two. Eric was a long-time member of the West Linn Lions Club and unselfishly volunteered his time, talent, and treasure in many ways to positively impact the world around him. The Egland family has awarded an annual scholarship (in memory of Eric) to students who intend to pursue a degree in Business and with a proven track record of service to their local community. Each year, the Egland Family provides 1 or 2 scholarships to West Linn graduating seniors. The scholarships have ranged from $1,500 to $3,000.00 annually. Since 2015, the Egland Family has given away 9 scholarships (totaling $19,500) to West Linn High School graduates. The primary scholarship funding mechanism has been through family and friend’s donations. Online (see buttons on this webpage) or cash contributions are encouraged through the Lions Foundation of West Linn (a 501(c)(3) organization) with confirmation available for tax purposes. A key component of the scholarship fundraising success has been that every dollar raised goes directly to scholarships. 2021 Scholarship Selection:
Press Release: May 27, 2021 The Egland Family presented one scholarship to Zachary (Zac) Hoover, a 2021 West Linn graduating senior at the West Linn High School virtual Evening of Excellence on May 27th.
