Overview:
The primary high school scholarship funding mechanism for the past years has been our annual Wine Raffle. Local wineries donate wine through our 501(c)(3) Lions Foundation of West Linn and tickets are available online (see below) or from Club members in August through October. Cash contributions, also through the Foundation, are encouraged with confirmation available for tax purposes, if desired. A key component of our success has been the Club covering all expenses, so every dollar raised goes directly to scholarships (e.g., over $16,000.00 raised in 2021 for 2022 scholarships). |
Wine Donations
Many local wineries generously donate bottles or cases of their wine to the raffle. If we need more to fill out the required number of boxes, the Club purchases them (usually at a discounted price). We then apportion the donated wine bottles to boxes with either 12 or 6 bottles. We strive to provide an approximately consistent value for each type of box. This year we will splitting at least 24 cases of wine between winners, each winner's wine is valued between $100 to $275. Tickets: Raffle tickets are available for sale from Club members or here online. We sell a maximum of 800 tickets. Individual tickets are $10 each or 11 for $100. Scholarship Donations If you do not wish to purchase tickets for the wine, but would like to donate to the Scholarship fund, please use the button below. |
Winners:
The drawing will be held on the Club's first regular meeting of November. You need not be present to win. At least 36 raffle winners are drawn (more winners are dependent on the amount of wine donated). The first 12 winners drawn receive a full case of assorted local wines. The remaining 24 winners receive a half case of wine. Winners are notified either the night of the drawing or the next day. Winners receive instructions on when and where wine can be picked up. We request that winners retrieve their wine on the Saturday after the drawing, unless other accommodation is made. |
