past WLRVL members,
Verie Reynolds Memorial: Verie was a valued member of the West Linn Riverview Lions Club. Her enthusiasm and dedication to serving the community were inspirational. TBS-more about Verie The Reynolds family initially funded $15,000 from their inheritance to an account to be used for scholarships in Verie's memory. The Verie Family directed that $500 be used for scholarships each year until the funds ran out. However, due to prudent investment of the initial funds, the account continues to grow even with the annual $500 outflow. West Linn Riverview Lions Memorial: The West Linn Riverview Lions (WLRVL) also granted scholarships to high school seniors for many years. They had a Scholarship account established and dedicated to provide funds for the scholarships. Individual WLRVL also had accounts that they decided to dedicate to scholarships. In 2020, the WLRVL Club was terminated and many of their members joined the West Linn Lions Club. Overview: After the WLRVL Club termination, the past members and the Reynolds family decided to consolidated all their funds into one account to be dedicated for scholarships. The combined Reynolds Family and past WLRVL members intend to provide 1 or 2 scholarships to West Linn graduating seniors in the future. The group intends to fund $500 annually until such time as the Endowment that they established reaches its principle amount so that investment gains from the Endowment can be used to fund a full scholarship. The primary scholarship funding mechanism has been through past WLRVL members, family, and friends donations. Cash contributions are encouraged through the Lions Foundation of West Linn (a 501(c)(3) organization) with confirmation available for tax purposes. A key component of the scholarship fundraising success has been that every dollar raised goes directly to scholarships. |
Endowment:
The Reynolds Family and past WLRVL members have established an endowment to provide a permanent source of scholarship grants. As it continues to grow, the investment gains provide 1 or 2 scholarships to be determined when the endowment's principle amount is reached. We accept tax-deductible donations through our Lions Foundation of West Linn, a 501(c)(3) certified non-profit entity. |
