Verie Reynolds Memorial:
Verie was a valued member of the former West Linn Riverview Lions Club. Her enthusiasm and dedication to serving the community were inspirational. After her passing, the Reynolds family initially funded $15,000 from their inheritance to an account to be used for scholarships in Verie's memory. Initially, the Verie Family directed that $500 be used for scholarships each year until the funds ran out. However, the initial funds have been merged with Riverview memorial funds to create an endowment. West Linn Riverview Lions Memorial: The former West Linn Riverview Lions Club also granted scholarships to high school seniors for many years. They had a Scholarship account established and dedicated to provide funds for the scholarships. Individual Club members also had accounts that they decided to dedicate to scholarships. In 2020, the Club was terminated and many of their members joined the West Linn Lions Club. Endowment Overview: After the Riverview Lions Club Club termination, the past Club members and the Reynolds family decided to consolidate all their funds into one account to be dedicated for scholarships, now named the Reynold-Riverview Memorial Endowment. The Endowment will be used to contribute to the West Linn Lions Club scholarships, specifically for the Career and Technical Education scholarship. The first Endowment account has reached its principle amount so that investment gains from the Endowment can be used to fund scholarships. The primary scholarship funding mechanism has been through past members, family, and friends donations. Cash contributions are encouraged through the Lions Foundation of West Linn (a 501(c)(3) organization) with confirmation available for tax purposes. A key component of the scholarship fundraising success has been that every dollar raised goes directly to scholarships. |
